What is Vegetable Tanned Leather?

Vegetable-tanned leather is tanned using tannins and other ingredients found in different vegetable matter, such as tree bark prepared in bark mills, wood, leaves, fruits, and roots. It is supple and tan or brown in color, with the exact shade depending on the mix of chemicals and the color of the skin.

Will My Vegetable Tanned Leather Turn Darker?

Yes! The great thing about vegetable tanned leather is that it shows its age. The longer you carry it the darker it will become. It takes about a year of everyday carry of a product for it to really start to get a nice dark patina. What you're carrying can also affect the aging time frame. For instance, a bracelet is going to age much faster than a bag because it is most likely getting more sun and coming in contact with skin oils which can darken leather.

What Does the Lifetime Guarantee Cover?

The lifetime guarantee covers any failure of the product not caused by abuse or misuse. So if a stitch were to break after years of wear it would be covered under repair. Washing your wallet voids the warranty. Veg-Tanned leather is pretty tough but it does not do well with hot water. It will shrink and become brittle. All Frispy Leather products are coated with a conditioning wax that protects it against small amounts of water and moisture but it will not protect against being fully submerged in any liquid.
